#27 Of taking it slow in a fast paced world
“No, we don’t need more sleep. It’s our souls that are tired, not our bodies. We need nature. We need magic. We need adventure. We need freedom." - Brooke Hampton
Dearest reader,
This month, a poem for you, a poem which has been a few weeks into writing, but has always been in my heart -
“A hundred thoughts stretch between each word I write now, but all flow in one direction—gratitude.
We spend so much of our day caught up in what happens around us. But today, I want to take a moment to explore more worlds together— out there, and in each other.
Little moments follow us wherever we go.
And then, as our fingers intertwined, the warmth spread to our eyes. My littlest finger curled around your thumb, you smiled and said, "Are you even watching the movie?"
As the protagonist showed his newly written book to his muse, I chuckled and whispered— "I belong. I belong. I belong."
Recommendations Corner
For this month, I am recommending this heart touching quote and its book - "Some homes don’t just shelter people. They preserve time." 🏡💭
Vasvi Tiwari’s House As We Knew It: Life of Unending Memories is a warm, wistful tribute to childhood, family, and the kind of love that lingers in old corridors, clinking utensils, and afternoon naps. Set in the nostalgic haze of 80s–90s small-town India, this book isn’t just a story—it’s a feeling.
Told through the eyes of Samriddhi as her ancestral home is sold, the novel is packed with heartfelt vignettes, rich family quirks, and that aching sense of watching something beautiful slip away. The prose is poetic, the details so vivid you can almost smell the pickles in the kitchen or hear the rustle of cotton saris.
If you’ve ever left a home behind—or found one in memories—you’ll feel this deeply.
Until next time :)
Wishing you a month of less longing and more love,
Yashika
